About the NACAT Conference

The annual NACAT Conference, held the third week of July each year, is a symbiotic venture between the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT), a host school (Tyler Junior College in 2012), industry partners, and  NACAT delegates and their families.

While the conference is held at the same time of year every year it is not held in the same location.  Each year presents an opportunity for a new host school to have the NACAT family come to their city and use their amenities.  Sometimes the conferences are in the United States and sometimes they are in Canada.  No matter where they are held, though, one constant remains -- all involved benefit from attending and/or hosting a NACAT Conference.

  • NACAT shares net revenue generated by the conference with the host school. The amount varies with the success of the event but this is money which could be used to enhance an automotive program.
  • The delegates often bring their families and spend money in the host community.
  • The industry contracts generated often result in donations of equipment and materials directly to the host automotive program.
  • Other automotive educators in the host school state and area will be able to attend because of the reduced cost of travel.
  • The educational benefits and industry involvement will improve their ability to train students for jobs in the host school area.
  • Serving as host for an international educational event will puts school and program in a very select group.
  • Having organized, planned, and conducted such an event will support things such as grants, awards, scholarships, certifications, accreditation, and performance funding.
